LASIK combined with CXL may prevent corneal ectasia
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
This pilot study followed eight patients with myopia or myopic astigmatism who underwent LASIK with concurrent accelerated corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) in one eye and LASIK alone in the fellow eye. At 12 months, the LASIK–CXL group had UDVA and manifest refraction equal to or better than those in the LASIK-only group. No eye lost one or more lines of CDVA. Endothelial cell loss with LASIK–CXL was not greater than in the fellow eye, and there were no side effects. Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, August 2012
