Zelia M. Correa, MD, PhD renowned for her expertise in ocular oncology and vitreoretinal surgery, has assumed the presidency of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO). The appointment came following elections held during the FSO's Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, June 7, in Orlando.

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology joins the American Academy of Ophthalmology in urging Halloween shoppers to understand the risks of wearing over-the-counter contact lenses.

At the Florida Society of Ophthalmology Board of Directors meeting held in June 2017, the Board adopted the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s position on the use of medicinal marijuana for the treatment of glaucoma.
