Rapid, In-office Test for Adenoviral Conjunctivitis Shown Effective
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
This prospective, masked, multicenter trial compared the clinical sensitivity and specificity of the AdenoPlus test with those of viral cell culture (CC) with confirmatory immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The AdenoPlus test demonstrated a clinical sensitivity of 90 percent and specificity of 96 percent compared with CC and IFA. AdenoPlus uses direct-sampling microfiltration technology that allows antigen to be transferred directly to the immunoassay test strip without any pretreatment. Archives of Ophthalmology, January 2013
