Retinal Deturgescence Does Not Induce Refractive Change
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Investigators evaluated whether treatment for diabetic maculopathy changes a patient’s refractive status. Subjects were 50 patients with clinically significant diabetic macular edema treated with ranibizumab, bevacizumab or triamcinolone. While significant change occurred in BCVA and central subfield thickness, no significant change in refraction was noted between baseline and the visit when the macula was completely dry (P = 0.824), suggesting glasses can be prescribed to these patients any time during ongoing therapy.
