VEGF Trap-eye continues to show vision gains at one year in DME
From the American Academy of Ophthalmology
This randomized, double-masked multicenter study compared different doses and dosing regimens of intravitreal VEGF Trap-Eye to standard macular laser treatment in 221 patients with center-involved diabetic macular edema (DME). At one year, VEGF Trap-Eye resulted in significantly greater increases in mean visual acuity (+9.7 to +13.1 letters of improvement) compared with laser alone. Treatment was relatively well-tolerated, with the most frequent ocular adverse events being conjunctival hemorrhage, eye pain, ocular hyperemia and increased IOP. Ophthalmology, August 2012
