David A. Goldman, MD, receives The Michael R. Redmond, MD, Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist Award

ORLANDO – The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO), the preeminent professional association for medical and osteopathic doctors who specialize in vision care, is pleased to announce that David A. Goldman, MD, received The Michael R. Redmond, MD, Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist Award, at its annual meeting, Masters in Ophthalmology 2012, held June 22-24 in Orlando, FL.

Established in honor of Michael R. Redmond, MD, this annual award is meant to recognize a Florida-based ophthalmologist under the age of 40, who has demonstrated organizational leadership, service, competence and devotion to the high ethical and professional standards of the FSO.

Dr. Goldman is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology in the Department of Corneal and External Diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He is the current President of the Palm Beach County Ophthalmology Society and serves as an FSO board member and on the FSO Membership Committee.

Dr. Goldman has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented at academic conferences all over the world.  He has received multiple awards including second place in the American College of Eye Surgeons Bloomberg memorial national cataract competition, the Paul Kayser International Scholar (2006), The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) research award (2005-2008), and the Crystalens Center of Excellence Award (2009).

Dr. Goldman received his BA from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from the Tufts School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Cabrini Medical Center in New York, NY, and completed both his residency and cornea fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
